God Forbid: EarthsbloodGod Forbid: Earthsblood

04/03/09  ||  Euthanatos

I don’t know what all the fuss is about. Ever since “Earthsblood” leaked online, people have been raving about it like it’s the second coming of Christ. Well, fuck “Earthsblood” and fuck your Lord and Savior while I’m at it. Okay, fine, this isn’t a shitty, tasteless, good for nothing album. It’s nicely crafted, yes, has some catchy moments, aye, but that’s about it. Mostly, it’s rehashed modern American metal. And I’m not being biased against God Forbid at all for them being part of the metalcore scene. Not at all. I actually thought “IV: Constitution of Treason” was a brilliant album. Yes, your read that right, brilliant. It was one of the best albums to come out in 2005.

“Earthsblood” doesn’t have much in common with the previous album though. There is less melody and the vocals have gotten a lot shittier. Which is hard to understand, because the band seemed to have reached the peak of its abilities. Maybe that’s what it is; once you’ve reached the top, you can only go down. Still, it’s weird. I like the different “The New Clear”, though. Some nice vocals there. Clean ones, at least. The screaming is god-awful. Oh, look at that, I just made a funny. Bah.

Now, I’m pretty sure there is some rich concept here in the lyrics, something that neatly binds the entire album together with a story that is both eloquent and filled with depth. Whatever it is, I don’t care. Doesn’t make the album any better, does it?

After listening to this album three times, only one song stood out, that “The New Clear” one I mentioned earlier, and only because it’s a bit different than the rest. What does that tell you? Because it fucking tells me that this album fucking sucks.

Go away.

The cover: Don’t know, never been attacked by tree.

4 pairs of gonads in your face out of 10.
